आज तिने घरातील किचनमध्ये प्रथमच एकटीने पाऊल ठेवले. ऍप्रन अंगावर चढवला आणि गॅस स्टोव्ह ऑन केला. तिच्या चेहऱ्यावरील आनंद ओसंडून वाहू लागला. उमलत्या आयुष्यातील पहिलावहिला स्वतंत्र अनुभव घेताना तिचे मन प्रफुल्लित झाले. काही वेळातच हातातील ट्रे सहज सांभाळत, ती प्रशस्त दिवाणखान्यात आली. तिचे आई-बाबा आश्चर्याने तिच्याकडे बघू लागले. "मी तुम्हांला आवडतो ना..., अगदी तस्सा... चहा स्वतः बनवला आहे". आई-बाबांचे डोळे पाणावले. दोघांची मनं भुतकाळात १६/१७ वर्षे मागे गेली. कधीतरी दूडूदूडू धावणारी इवलीशी छोटी पावलं आज दमदारपणे पुढे पडत असल्याचे पाहून आई-बाबा नखशिखांत गहिवरले, कृतकृत्य झाल्यासारखे वाटले. त्यांचे पिल्लू मोकळ्या अवकाशात उत्तुंग भरारी घेण्यासाठी सज्ज झाले होते.

Today she set her foot alone in the kitchen of the house for the first time. She put on the apron and turned on the gas stove. The joy on her face reflected her determination. Inexperienced hands seen enlivened by the first independent experience of life. In no time at all, she came into living room, easily holding the tray in her hand. Her parents looked up at her in amazement. "Please have tea as you both like...! Today..I prepared it for you." Their eyes swamped with happy tears. Mind went back 16/17 years in the past. Seeing the once small delicate feet.. in a steadfast mode today, the over-whelmed minds, experienced the absolute accomplishment of life, seeing daughter, ready to fly independently in the infinite sky.
