The sun dipped below the horizon. It was utter dim twilight. He looked around but nothing was sighted nearby. He glared at his wrist once again. Thinking too quickly, he  started running backwards. Roughly after five minutes, he increased, his speed even more. And in no time, he reached at the dense grove of mango trees. Looking up, he sighed bottomlessly. He had spent whole day, sitting in the snug shadow of that beloved mango tree. His tender feet trembled at the sudden rustling of the leaves. Fussily, he looked around with shuddered eyes. A dog, standing at the distance, was staring gruesomely at him. Surmising with the convulsive eyes, he stepped slightly back. A round coil got stuck in his toe. His excitement grew as he had found his lost... special wristwatch.

सुर्य पुर्णतः मावळला होता. उतरतीची संध्याकाळ आणि धूसर संधीप्रकाशाची ती वेळ होती. त्याने आजुबाजुला पाहिले पण कशाचाही मागमूस नव्हता. मनगटाकडे पुन्हा एकदा भेदक नजर टाकली. झटपट विचार केला व क्षणाचाही विलंब न करता उलटपावली पळत निघाला. पाच-एक मिनिटांनी त्याने आपला वेग आणखी वाढवला. काही वेळातच तो घनदाट आमराईत पोहोचला. दम टाकता टाकता मान वर केली. याच झाडाच्या सावलीत बसून दिवसभर त्याने अभ्यास पुर्ण केला होता. झाडांच्या पानांची अचानक झालेली सळसळ ऐकून त्यांचे पाय थबकले. बावरल्या मनानं  डाव्या-उजव्या बाजूला बघितले. लांब उभा एक कुत्रा त्यांच्याकडे रोखून पाहत होता. भेदरलेल्या डोळ्यांनी अंदाज घेत घेत तो मागे सरकला. तोच पायाच्या अंगठ्यामध्ये एक गोलाकार वेटोळे अडकले. त्याचा उत्साह वाढला कारण हरवलेलं ते स्पेशल रिस्टवाॅच सापडले होते.
