LSRW are known as the fundamental skills of language and the sequence of mastering them all, is a very tricky business. 

        SUMMARY WRITING 

Summary is defined as a quick or short recapitulation of the original text. This restating of information is usually presented in ONE PARAGRAPH.  

A summary includes a topic sentence and supporting condensed information.

 

Summary involves three simple techniques :

1. Skimming   

2. Scanning   

3.Condencement

A good summary's three basic characteristics:

Conciseness 

Accuracy

Objectivity 

Summary Writing Tips:

Shorten the given text.

Skim the information and scan the content.

Understand more details through reading.

Make rough notes using keywords.

Cut Redundant words.

Avoid Adverbs.

Use one word substitution.

Use Noun in opposition.

Use Simple/compound/complex sentences.

Write sentences using keywords.

Connect them using conjunctions/ Linkers.

Use the same tense of the original passage.

Use active as well as passive voice constructions.

 

Summary Writing Steps: 

1. Read the article twice.

2. Ask questions about the purpose of writing.

3. Identify the main idea.

4. Write the first draft.

5. Revise your first draft and edit it.

6. Give a suitable short title.

7. Write the final draft in one paragraph only(Summary).
